More about this tour

This very special tour combines visits to the best sites on the
island with lunch with a relaxing mid-afternoon pool-garden
party “Greek-style” at an exclusive villa mansion.
You start with a visit to the historic center of Old Corfu
Town. Leaving your coach by the main square “Esplanade”,
you set off on a short walking guided tour of the pedestrian-only Old Town, wandering around in its narrow winding
cobbled streets “kandounia”, visiting the Church of the
Patron St. Spyridon with its priceless collection of icons
and offerings.

You then join your coach and the tour proceeds to the picturesque old village of Gastouri, for a
visit at the impressive “Achilleion Palace”, built by Empress Elizabeth (Sissy) of Austria in
1893 as a tribute to her favorite Ancient Greek mythological hero, Achilles. You visit the
museum and the beautiful gardens of the Palace, overlooking the sea, adorned with classical
statues. Following the visit to the Palace, your coach drives you via the coastal road of Perama,
with a stop for some great pictures of the picturesque Mouse Island and Vlaherena Monastery on
the way, to the beautiful Kommeno Bay, one of the most exclusive suburbs on the island.

Here, on the top of the hill (60 meters above sea level),
you are made most welcome at the luxurious “Villa of
the Roses”, its name deriving from the numerous
varieties of rosebushes that adorn its lush garden,
where you are invited to join in a private pool-garden
party – in the Greek style. Having been greeted by the
owner at the entrance with a cold glass of ouzo (local
aperitif) or orange juice, under the soft tunes of two
musicians, you enjoy a dip in the pool or a walk in the
garden admiring the view to the bay. A sumptuous
buffet lunch of local grilled and cooked delicacies follows and a group of folklore dancers in
the traditional costume gives a performance of local dances, eager to teach you the basic “Zorba the
Greek” syrtaki steps.

Notes: Buffet Lunch included. The buffet consists of a selection of home-cooked hors-d’oeuvres, mousaka,
souvlaki pittas, chicken, and lamb chops barbequed on the grill, Greek salad, fresh fruit, local dessert. For
beverages: local wine, cold beer, and soft drinks.
