Discover the heritage, traditions, and sights of Corfu during a guided
walk through the streets of its Old Town. A UNESCO World Heritage Site,
this historic quarter is a maze of medieval buildings and winding
pedestrian streets dating back to the 18th century. With your guide
begin your walk-in Spilia, the first main entrance to the Old Town and an
atmospheric labyrinth of narrow alleyways and
steep stairs. Visit the Patounis soap factory, a
family-owned for more than a century, still
producing handcrafted soaps using traditional methods. At the bustling open-air market,
enjoy Greek meze (small plates) and ouzo, an aniseed-spiced aperitif, visit the shop
whose owner still makes the original “nouboulo” (olive wood smoked ham) and salami,
the best one known for, where we get the chance to taste these unique local products.
Continue to the heart of Corfu Old Town arriving at the Casa Parlante museum.
Here, you will learn about the life of Corfu’s 19th-century nobility through the
museum’s lively and informative exhibits.
We continue our tour having a refreshing stop at the town’s oldest
ice make shop, where they create ice cream from Corfu’s
exclusive product the “koum kouat”. Continuing with a visit at “Lazaris”, a local store that offers
all the varieties of products made out of koum-kouat.
After our nice time in Old Corfu town, it is time to board our van and
head to the village of Doukades where we will have the opportunity to have a nice
Greek-style lunch in a typical village tavern. Finally, you will then
continue to the Ropa Valley where you will visit the THEOTOKIS
Estate and Winery; you will visit the farm, the wine press
and taste the local wine varieties. You will be given an
orientation by a farm employee (ENG speaking). At the farm’s shop, you will find the
famous Theotoky wine, as well as the other farm products at farm prices (1/2 of retail prices).
